Charles Wiffen Sauvignon Blanc

What can I say? I am a sucker for a delicious New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.  The 2009 Charles Wiffen Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand fit the bill wonderfully!  The Charles Wiffen label is a family owned winery that produces several other varieties of wine such as Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay.  This wine was sealed with a screwtop and had an alcohol level of 13.5%.

The Charles Wiffen was a brilliant, platinum color with green hues.  On the nose were hints of gooseberry, pink grapefruit, fresh cut grass, ciltrano, jalapeno, lemon rind, lime zest, and wet stone minerality.  The palate was similar to the nose with notes of fresh grapefruit, lemon, orange rind, wet river stone, jalapeno, white blossoms, and lime.  This Sauvignon Blanc had screamingly high acidity that wakes up the mouth with a crisp, clean finish.  Overall, the prefect wine on a hot fall night.
